As a system analyst at Hallmark Cards in Kansas City, I had the full responsibility to develop their first On Line Real Time System without the use of IMS or CICS. After the development of the application and system control facility called SAVIC, over 100 application program modules were programmed in support of user requirements. The programming effort was in ASSEMBLER, QPL, BTAM & COBOL. QPL, Quasi Programming Language, is a language and compiler that I developed. Supervisor & Director of computing - John Leslie
As a section manager responsible initially for all On line Development for American National Insurance Company, I first enhanced the SAVIC system developed at Hallmark and released to me. It was modified to run in an IMS environment. This system replaced the need to install ADF and was used in the development of over 35 On Line systems and over 1,000 programs and modules. While a previous effort by IBM of NASA failed after a two year effort, the SAVIC system resulted in a highly responsive system exceeding by 400 % othe company development efforts having more that 100 terminals in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. This was the opinion of my immediate management and that of the user community due to Life70 international conferences. furthermore the cost of development was reduced since a small staff of three developed over 70 % of all applications by transaction count. The Programming effort was in ASSEMBLER and QPL. Supervisor Richard Gross
As a software consultant, I have supported numerous business clients including American General, Magnacon, Ford Aerospace at NASA, Interfirst Bank, Bankers Savings & Loan, United Gas Pipe Line Company, Saracco Insurance, Coastal Fence Company and Synergos. Research and development efforts were also conducted in support of ECM International Inc. Software was written both for the mainframe and micro. Programming effort was in COBOL, ASSEMBLER,IMS, HLI/PACE, QUICK BASIC, ANIMAL, EUPHORIA, PASCAL, DELPHI, HTML, JAVA APPLETS,and DOS.
The total lines of code developed over the past 40 years is 965,000 and over 1,500 programs and modules developed with the following breakdown:
