COMPUTING SYSTEMS

Resume for SERGE GRANT, Software Consultant

The mainframe systems at Boeing where basically a pure OS system. The teleprocessing network was supported by assembler code utilizing BTAM. Next to payroll the Direct Entry data distribution system had the no. 2 priority at the Boeing computer complex. No software packages were utilized and all code was generated internally. I redeveloped the Data Entry Distribution System at a savings of $50,000 per year to the corporation.

Hallmark Cards of Kansas City did not have a software platform to support teleprocessing and application programs such as IMS or CICS. In an IBM OS mainframe environment, I initially developed a program, data base, and teleprocessing platform system call SAVIC. Second I developed a testing and programming support facility. Finally, I proceeded to develop the On Line Applications in support of some of the major departments of the corporation. Only one person was assigned to me who did not have any programming experience resulting in a single person development effort. Upon terminating my position with Hallmark Cards, SAVIC was released to me and subsequently assigned to ECM International Inc.

At American National Insurance Company, IMS was already installed and SAVIC was modified to support that platform and became the productivity tool for the next 10 years in developing over 1,000 application programs and modules. I was hired to support the redevelopment of the On Line Systems since a previous effort by IBM of NASA called ARTIST failed to provide adequate performance. The SAVIC system that I developed at Hallmark was enhanced to support On Line Applications in an IMS environment. The QPL programming language and compiler of SAVIC was enhanced to support the new requirements. Both productivity and performance was optimized and due to the SAVIC system, ANICO had one of the best performance environments as stated by user departemnt managers after attending various conventions.

As as independent software consultant and doing business as ECM Consultants, I supported Ford Aerospace of NASA, developed an extensive reporting system in support of Federal Energy Regulatory Commission with the assitance of two other programmers, and once again single handed programmed an extensive reporting system for American General Insurance Company.

As a research and development effort in support of ECM International Inc. I developed four systems on the micro computer. Since all the other systems were developed on the mainframe with the exception of the reporting system for the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, this effort required the setup of a network of micro computers at the home office. Over 400,000 lines of code and 500 programs and modules were developed in support of these systems. All the computing systems were designed, developed, and documented by a single person.
